Welcome

The Minilubes Scientific Fellows' Congress is intended to bring together young researchers from all over Europe, in particular – but not exclusively – from different European Research Networks dealing with natural science. The aim is to create the perfect environment to forge links and synergies between the networks, groups and researchers.

Renowned scientists will be invited to give lectures, to provide extraordinary high-level training, to motivate young researchers for a professional career in science and to benefit from direct contact with brilliant researchers. Professor Kevin Kendall (The University of Birmingham) who contributed to the JKR model (after Johnson, Kendall and Roberts) for adhesive elastic contact will be a guest speaker. Professor Luis Liz-Marzán (University of Vigo), who is a leading researcher in nanotechnology will report on scientific challenges in nanochemistry applied to nanotechnology.

Additionally, a talk from a European Union representative will be given supplemented by a series of oral presentations and a poster session presented by the fellows about their projects and work. We encourage you to submit an abstract of your work for a presentation or a poster. Contributions of the sciences chemistry, physics, material science, biology and mathematics are highly welcome.

In order to demonstrate the performance of European research at the cutting edge of science, experience in research fields such as ionic liquids, biomimetics, tribology, nano-structured materials, composite materials, molecular dynamics, ab initio calculations, high end analytical methods for research at the nano-scale, and characterisation of biological processes is intended to be shared by the participants.

This event is a valuable opportunity to raise the awareness about the importance of research/training in Europe and will provide an insight into the degree of success of the Marie Curie Actions.

The cost of conference attendance is an eligible cost for the Marie Curie projects. Any fellow wishing to attend should be allowed to participate to this event, and the necessary budget made available to them. There are no conference fees.

You are kindly invited to participate in the Minilubes Scientific Fellows' Congress, and we are looking forward to meeting you in Vigo. It will also be a very good opportunity for you to visit Santiago de Compostela, the final destination of all "Ways of St. James", which, during centuries have brought Christendom's pilgrims to the St. James apostle tomb.
